Program Note:

Pull" is inspired by gestures in dance that portray an imaginary gravity. I'm lucky enough to have some friends who are amazing dancers, and I'm always astounded by the way that they can convince the audience that some invisible force has been cast upon them, drawing them somewhere new. While writing, I was thinking about different invisible and unremitting forces that we experience in our lives that resemble a kind of dance; from the moon pulling waves to shore, to each breath we take pulling in air to our lungs, and lastly, the attraction that brings complete strangers together.
